Why I am excited...

Welcome to my little blog. I'm so excited about getting started on this project. I have been feeling convicted by the Holy Spirit to start expecting more out of my kids. I guess I never realized that I was causing so much harm to my kids by just doing everything for them. When did we get to the point that we as parents decided to just do it all so that it gets done better, faster and easier? I know I am guilty of always just picking up the mess, fixing the beds, cleaning the dishes and pretty much everything else just because I don't really have time to teach the kids how to do it themselves. I really need to just de-clutter my schedule and make time to teach them. I  have been reading a book lately that says that almost 30% of college graduates move back home with their parents after they graduate. I don't want to be responsible for my kids not being able to survive in the grown up world. I will tell you that this is new for me and it is not easy. I want to use this blog to share my challenges, my failures and maybe challenge others to expect more out of their children too.

Brock- he is pretty sure he knows it all.
He will be my challenge I think, because I only have a year and a half left to help him get ready to be a grown up.

Blake- he does not like to do any work around the house.
He will run up and down a football field or basketball court or anything to do with sports, but the dumpster!?! Yeah right!! Too far to go.

Ashley- of the 5 she will usually do what she is asked to do more often.
She has a hard time with being able to do things by herself. She feels like someone else should be in the room with her.

Taylor- never does anything wrong, its always someone else.
She gets mad easy. Uses her outside voice all the time and is not going to do anything without a fight.

Kaylee- free spirit. Loves everyone and every animal.
Kaylee is good at getting lost in the crowd if you know what I mean. She doesn't want anyone to notice that she has not helped out at picking up and stuff. WHINE! Everyone just does anything to keep her from whining. Not a pretty sound!

These are my subjects. I will be seeking out Gods guidance as to how to raise them to be grown up that can actually be able to function in the world they will be in. It will be very hard to break bad habits. I am sure they won't like me much, but I love them enough to do whats best for them.

Gods word does say...
Proverbs 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.
